GUMMSAA Talking Drum Newsletter

Introduction Sign posts are used to show ownership of a piece of land, or to advertise products manufactured at a factory. The same situation is happening today in the Internet age or virtual world. The Website of GUMMSAA is a virtual sign post. It features the mascot of our alma mater, the mighty lions. The lions are only making a stronger case that the Website belongs to GUMMSAA, but they do not narrate a single thing about what is, what will, or what has transpired at the institution. This fact bears testament that the website lacks an important link, the newsletter link. Please take a careful look at lion king and queen on our Website. The lion queen looks backward into darkness, while the lion king faces a brilliant future. The queen is silently commanding us to reflect on our past experiences at the school to avert the total descent of darkness on it. Do not forget the bridge (school) that you once used in your journey through life. On the other hand, the lion king faces the future with hopes and dreams. The lion king may be successful if he wisely incorporates the past experiences of the lion queen into his future plans. In order words, utilize your experiences of the past as a guide for the future. The newsletter is the medium at our disposal to communicate events involving the school, church, hospital and GUMMSAA. It should provide the opportunity for our members who intend to practice writing. If any member is a veteran writer, we encourage him or her to contribute to the newsletter. One advantage of contributing to the newsletter is that it will cost the writer nothing to have an article published. Besides, your former school mates will benignly criticize your article and encourage your growth in writing. Last, the newsletter should be like the blood of the circulatory system of the body. The blood transports nutrients and oxygen (information and knowledge) to all parts of the body (GUMMSAA). It will herald future events, inform, entertain and persuade readers. If anyone has a story to narrate, the newsletter will be the best place for that. It will report interaction among Gummsaa, the George Way Harley Hospital and Ganta United Methodist Mission School and the Methodist University. Our alumni are encouraged to read the newsletter and obtain primary information about the status of our alma mater. The format or structured of the newsletter are listed in the table of contents as separate pages. Each page will report specific or related articles. For example, the Generation X Page will feature articles about children and descendents of our alumni. The stories could be about anything our members may want to share about their children. On the other hand, parents should encourage their children to write in the X section. Children can write about their accomplishments at school, at sports, at work and other activities that are of interest to them.
Table of Contents Editorial Page The editors are ready to receive articles for publication. The article should be written in word format and emailed as an attachment to the editors simultaneously. The email address for the editor and co-editor are pmtoweh@hotmail.comand ykemah@gmail.coml. All articles must have a maximum length of two (2) pages. Any article that exceeds the length requirement will be truncated and its contents may be compromised.
The author or writer of an article bears primary responsibility for it. The newsletter will not report negative, derogatory and malicious articles about anyone. All articles should be informative, persuasive, entertaining or poetic. The editors will exercise the right to spell check articles for grammar, or content appropriateness, modified content or refuse to publish slanderous, offensive articles.
